Why Work With Us
Search is changing fast. Most businesses haven't caught up.
A growing share of buyers ask AI and get an answer before they ever click a link. If your brand isn't part of that answer, you're losing visibility you may not even know you're losing — and the businesses moving now are the ones who'll own this when it matters most.
What's changing
Fewer clicks. More AI answers.
Here's what's actually changed — and why it's worth acting on now rather than later.
How we're different
Built around how you work.
Always someone local to talk to
You'll always have a Melbourne-based contact who knows your business and is available when you need them.
Founder-accessible
You talk directly to the people doing the work — not an account manager reading from a dashboard.
One connected strategy
SEO, GEO, AEO, content, and paid media — coordinated under one strategy, not billed as isolated campaigns.
No lock-in contracts
Month-to-month engagements. If the work isn't earning its place, you should be free to walk away.
The journey
From invisible to unmissable.
Week one is about clarity — a full map of where your brand shows up across Google, AI assistants, and every surface your buyers search. From there, we move fast on what matters most.
Free search audit
We map exactly where your brand appears — and disappears — across Google, AI assistants, and answer engines. You get a clear picture before we touch anything.
Strategy & quick wins
We deliver a prioritised roadmap: the highest-impact fixes first, then the compounding plays. No fluff, no 90-page decks — just what moves the needle.
Execution
Our team does the work — technical SEO, content, GEO optimisation, ad campaigns, whatever your strategy calls for. You stay in the loop without being in the weeds.
Reporting & iteration
Plain-English monthly reports showing visibility across every surface. We review, adjust, and compound. No vanity metrics — only what drives revenue.
Our story
We started SearchShift because the old playbook is running out of road.
AI assistants are increasingly answering questions directly, Google is showing AI Overviews ahead of organic results on more searches, and zero-click behaviour is growing. Most agencies are still optimising purely for a world that's steadily disappearing.
We're a Melbourne-based team that builds visibility strategies for where search is actually heading — across Google, ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, and every surface where your buyers are increasingly finding answers.
Why we exist
For two decades, the playbook for getting found online was straightforward: rank your website on Google, and the traffic follows. That playbook is increasingly incomplete. AI Overviews now answer many questions before a single blue link appears. ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity are becoming places where people research and shortlist providers — sometimes without ever touching Google at all.
Most agencies haven't adapted. They still sell SEO as if 2015's rules apply, while the ground shifts under their clients' feet. We built SearchShift specifically to close that gap — combining traditional SEO with Generative Engine Optimisation (GEO) and Answer Engine Optimisation (AEO) into one coherent strategy.
Melbourne-based, Australia-wide
SearchShift is based in Melbourne and works with Australian businesses nationally. Being local means understanding the Melbourne market specifically — but our strategies and execution work the same whether your customers are in Richmond, Brisbane, or Perth.
How we work with clients
No lock-in contracts
Every engagement is month-to-month. If the work isn't earning its place, you should be free to walk away — so we make sure it always does.
Plain-English reporting
You'll never get a report full of jargon and vanity metrics. We report on what actually matters: visibility, traffic, and leads.
One strategy, not separate campaigns
SEO, GEO, AEO, content, and paid media are coordinated under a single strategy — because that's how your buyers actually experience search.
Honest timelines
Search visibility takes months, not days. We'll tell you what's realistic up front, rather than overpromising to win the work.
